Avoid A Queasy Stomach On Vacation

vacation foodsIt’s time for your vacation. You have probably been planning this vacation for months or maybe even longer. You have dieted and done all the right things for eating to get into your new swimwear. It’s going to be a blast. You are going to have so much fun!

There is just one problem….

You might be sidelined for a good portion of your vacation with a queasy stomach.Yep, it happens to many that go on vacation. They go out of town on vacation and BOOM! Upset Stomach City! Yes it can ruin a good vacation. But you shouldn’t stress about it. Hopefully we can give you a few tips to help you recover quickly from any stomach problems you encounter on your vacation.

Take Your Normal Foods With You

If you are like me and are on a pretty strict  diet, you may want to take a few of your foods with you to avoid any stomach upset. This of course includes mainly dry foods but it can also include things that you drink. For instance, if you are going somewhere and you can take a cooler with you, you may want to carry your own orange juice. Many places (hotels, restaurants, etc.) serve orange juice FROM CONCENTRATE. This can be extremely irritating to the stomach and should be avoided.

Especially if you have kids. You really should not give your child anything that is concentrated when it comes to OJ.

You should look for orange juice that states on the label that it is NOT FROM CONCENTRATE or NEVER FROM CONCENTRATE. It’s right there on the front label. You just have to look for it.

As for the foods you should be taking with you, most likely this will be limited to breakfast foods and snacks. It may be good for you to take the cereal that you prefer and even some fresh fruit if you have a way to keep it fresh and cool.

You here a lot of people say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. For many, it sets the tone for the whole day. Eat crappy early and feel crappy all day. Eat healthy early and reap the benefits of feeling great and energetic. This way you can get more out of your vacation.

Easy things to include may be something like Quaker Instant Oatmeal that you can heat in a microwave or with some really hot water.

You might want to include cereal bars or dried fruit or some other type of healthy snacks that your stomach can endure.

You will be out of your element on vacation and at the mercy of whatever place you are staying at has to offer or whatever local foods or restaurants are serving. So it’s best to be prepared.

Plus you will probably save a lot of money because of the higher prices you may have to pay for the convenience of it all.

If you are flying to your destination, this option is probably out for you as there are strict flight laws in place.

Do Not Eat Too Much

You may have dieted for a good while leading up to your vacation but chances are that you are going to eat lots of food while you are on holiday. Not only will you be eating more food but you will probably be more inclined to indulge yourself to eat almost anything that is put in front of you because let’s face it, you are on vacation. This is the time to let loose, relax and eat anything you want. Not only anything you want but as much of it as you want.

The foods you will be eating on vacation are likely to be more fatty and can include fried foods. You may be eating healthy at dinner but there is also a good chance that the hollandaise sauce you have on your seafood is loaded with lots of extra calories and fat. And if you are going all out, that probably means dessert too. That means more sugar and fat.

Hey, we have all been there. But there can be repercussions. You could end up with an upset stomach from all of this gorging.

Try and limit your all out eating habits to just a few days on your vacation. Or you could pick one meal of the day to really pig out on. This way, your stomach (and the rest of your body) has time to recover.

Remember, when you eat all of these calorie laden foods, you are not just taking in calories and fat. You are also making changes to your blood pressure and cholesterol. Your whole body is having to work harder because of the amount and types of foods that you may be eating.

Use a little self discipline and your stomach will thank you for it.

Avoid Foods You Have Never Tried

Almost everyone likes to try new things as long as they are within reason. Especially when they are on vacation. They do not want to be stuffy. They want to be adventurous.

That can also go for food. There some really exotic foods in the world and some of them can tear up a stomach in a hurry. Especially if you are eating abroad. You may want to avoid foods that you have never tried before.

You have no idea what this new and exciting food can do to your digestive system. Is a chance it could completely ruin the rest of your vacation?

Is it really worth it?

Who really knows for sure. You may be able to eat almost any type of foods without any problems at all. If that’s the case, then go for it. If you have a stomach that is apt to going haywire with anything that is out of the norm, well then, at all cost, avoid foods you are unsure about.

Remember, you are on vacation and chances are you spent a lot of money to relax and have a good time. It would be a pity to feel sick why you are supposed to be having a good time.

Limit Your Alcohol Intake

Alcohol is a part of lots of people’s vacations. People are just looking to get away and unwind and that often includes a couple of drinks. The problem is a couple of drinks turns into too many drinks. It’s very easy to get too relaxed and all of a sudden a plethora of drinks have entered your system.

When you have a lot to drink, it usually means you will pay the price. Most of the time, that happens the next day in the form of a hangover and a queasy stomach.

It often takes hours before you start feeling better. Plus too many times people feel the urge to eat something nasty to counteract the alcohol and that can just make things worse.

If you consume alcohol on your vacation, drink it in moderation. Not only will it be better for your stomach but it will probably keep you out of trouble.

Carry With You Quick Relief Products

This is your vacation. You don’t have time to play around here. You have worked hard all year and you do not want to miss out on a lot of fun being confined to the bathroom or the bed because of a queasy stomach. So make sure that you have some quick stomach relief products with you just in case the ole’ upset stomach rears it’s ugly head.

A quick fix hopefully will get you back in action and enjoying your vacation again.

I hope that everyone that goes on vacation gets to enjoy it. There is nothing worse than feeling stomach queasiness or feeling downright ill from something you ate or drank. Hopefully some of these tips will help you get the most out of your vacation and avoid a queasy stomach.

I’ll Have The Crap Burger With Cheese And A Large Order Of Fries

Are you about to order another Crap Burger With Cheese and one of those grandiose orders of large fries? Have you been getting an upset or queasy stomach from eating crap food like this lately?

I know, that’s more than one question – but is it true?

Many people continue to eat fast food and they do not consider the consequences. Their eating habits have steadily declined and they do not realize that the food they are eating is causing them more problems than just an upset stomach or an uneasy queasiness in the gastrointestinal department.

Is this you? Again, another question. But does this describe you? Be honest with yourself. This website is not just about telling you why you might be having a queasy or upset stomach, it is also about trying to educate on how to change things in your life so you do not keep experiencing the same stomach problems over and over.

So we will delving into a greater discussion of fast food and how it can change more than just your stomach  issues or an increasing waistline.

So What Are The Consequences Of Eating Fast Food?

There are many effects that fast food can cause people. Here are just a few of them:

  • High Blood Pressure
  • High Cholesterol
  • Irritated Stomach
  • Increased Risk Of Diabetes
  • Cirrhosis Of The Liver
  • Weight Gain
  • Mental Distress

Let’s start with high blood pressure (the silent killer). Eating a lot of fast food can really put your body into extra danger. this is especially true if fast food is eaten on a regular basis. One reason is this can increase your risk of developing high blood pressure. Many people already are genetically inclined to develop high blood pressure but eating vast amounts of fast food only makes things worse. The amounts of sodium alone in fast food is enough to make a person’s blood pressure shoot up.

High Cholesterol is another reason to avoid fast food. It can a lot of times be accompanied by high blood pressure. As I am writing this, it has been almost two years since I was diagnosed with both but I made a change in my diet and now both are at normal levels. The feeling of both of these issues hitting me at one time was enormous. I had been feeling ill for almost a year and had no idea that I was at dangerous levels and was at risk of actually dying. When I changed my diet and started exercising more, my life changed for the better.

burger and fries

Eating lots of fried foods and fast food on a consistent basis can cause an irritated stomach. Some people get some kind of stomach irritation if they eat fast food at all. It does not have to be on a consistent basis. Most fast foods are prepared with animal fats in the grease (oil). Many companies today are changing to a healthier cooking oil but the stomach has a harder time digesting something with grease in it than foods that do not. Plus most fast food has a lot of fat in general. A Quarter Pounder With Cheese from McDonald’s has 510 calories and 26 grams of fat. It  gets a an “F” on the nutritional grade at CalorieCount.com. Your stomach has to work overtime to digest food like this.

Keep eating unhealthy and see what happens to your health. Soon you will be super sizing everything and adding more sugar to your diet. The sugar can be found in the sodas and deserts. This gives you a greater risk of developing diabetes.

In the movie called Super Size Me by Morgan Spurlock, there was an amazing fact brought to light when he ate McDonald’s food for a solid month. One of the doctors interviewed stated that many people that have been consistent consumers of fast food have developed the beginning signs of cirrhosis of the liver. This is shocking and should be a revelation to eat a salad instead of that Big Mac (or that Whopper With Cheese – do not want McDonald’s to think we are picking on them).

So how can eating a crap burger cause mental distress? This is easy. We are able to combine the last two points on this. You can easily get mental distress from the weight gain of eating poorly. Add some ill health effects and some visits to the doctor for your cholesterol and blood pressure and you can easily distressed or even depressed. It’s a domino effect. Why do you think all of those workout machines sell so well each year.  I bet you have heard people say “at least I have my health” before. They mean it. You lose your health and it can send your brain into a depressive tailspin.

Eating Healthier Can Eliminate A lot Of Your Stomach Problems

Wise up and eat healthier. A lot of your stomach problems come from something you ate or may have drank. Your diet really does make a difference. You should really try and eliminate fast food from your diet. At least try and reduce it significantly. The effects of eating fast can be long term that may put you on medication or possibly even death. We have not even discussed heart disease but yes, that is in the equation as well.

So eat something healthy and put down that crap burger and fries. You will be around a lot longer to enjoy your friends and family.

For Years I Suffered From A Queasy Stomach

For many years I suffered from a queasy stomach. Everything used to be normal in the stomach department for me but somewhere in my mid twenties things changed. It seemed that everyday I would have a queasy stomach. To say that my stomach was upset would be an understatement. In fact, if I had a day where my stomach was not feeling a little queasy, I would be amazed and try to figure out why.

I suffered from a queasy stomach on a daily basis for years

So I am probably like a lot of you. My queasy stomach issues where constant (on a daily basis). Some of you reading the material at this website may be suffering from a constant queasy stomach as well. Or maybe you have an occasional queasy stomach and are looking for some quick relief. You could be someone that had a little too much fun the night before and now the alcohol is playing havoc on the digestive system.

Whatever the circumstances, I hope that this website will be able to help in some way. All I can do is tell you about my story (or stories) and hopefully it will be a benefit you with your upset or queasy stomach.

Why I suffered from a queasy stomach

As stated previously, I had a constant queasy stomach. 99% of all of my queasy stomach problems were caused by my diet.

I grew up in the South and I was not stranger to fried food. As many people know, fried food is a almost like a food group in the southern states. I grew up on heavy foods such as fried chicken, chicken fried steak, fried pork chops, fried potatoes and of course, fried shrimp. Start to see a pattern here?

Well as my body got older, it could not handle all of those heavy foods and I began to develop a queasiness in my stomach that grew into a consistent queasy stomach. My stomach was upset every day. It’s not something people really want to talk about but it was reality.

I knew that if I ate certain foods it would cause my stomach to become even more irritated. Those foods would usually be tied to fried foods. My stomach stayed in a constant irritated state.  So when I would try to eat something healthy like a salad, that would only make it worse. In fact, I would try and stay away from salads. This was especially true if I was out on a date. The worst part is I really like salads.

My wake up call was the beginning of relief of a constant queasy stomach

chest pains from high colesterol and high blood pressureA couple of years ago, I started having chest pains. My diet had gotten out of hand and I was not exercising as much as I used to in my younger days. I found out that I had high cholesterol as well as high blood pressure. I soon found out how to use a blood pressure monitor efficiently. My cardiologist wanted to put me on cholesterol medicine and I heard that if you start taking medication for that, you can never get off of it. My physician said that was not entirely true. He agreed to wait six month after what I told him.

So what did I tell him?

I told him to give me six months and that if my cholesterol did not come down through an improved diet and increased exercise, I would gladly start taking medication for high cholesterol. I also told him that I understood that high cholesterol may be genetic. I did however start taking high blood pressure medication.

So I began eating a very strict diet and increased my exercising quite a bit. That is when I started running a lot.

I could feel a huge difference.

I lost somewhere around 18 pounds the first month and I think it was 10 more pounds over the next month or two.

I had more energy and I felt great.I also started to notice that my queasy stomach issues were gone. No longer was my stomach upset. This new diet was really making a difference. After the second week or so on this diet, is when I could really tell that my stomach was now less irritated. And by the one month stage, I was sure that my new strict diet was the difference.

My six month follow up visit

stethoscope imageAfter six months, I visited my doctor again and he was amazed at my results. I had lost a lot of weight and my cholesterol and blood pressure had come down considerably well into safe ranges. In fact my blood pressure was a little low and he was thinking about taking me off of it. I suggested cutting it in half and reevaluating at my next visit.

So though a healthier diet and exercise, I was able to lower my cholesterol, lower my blood pressure and eliminate my constant queasy stomach which I had been dealing with for years.

I was a completely new person.

I don’t know if this will help any of you and I am not a medical doctor. In fact, if you are having serious stomach issues, I highly suggest that you seek medical advice from a physician as soon as possible.

I struggled with stomach problems for years and it took chest pains to get me to notice that my health was declining and I needed to do something about it. So from all if this I was blessed to realize that my cure for a queasy stomach was just to stop eating nasty foods and start eating vegetables, whole grains and lean non-fried foods. The best part about it is now I can eat a salad without having to look frantically for a restroom later.

I hope to be of some help to you in the future as I add more articles to this website. For years I struggled with stomach problems and now I just want to be able to let others know my story. That is why I started this website. If that helps, then great. If not, we will keep on looking together for the cause of your queasy stomach and hopefully find you the right answers.
